Coming from Dade County, Chris Espinal’s journey to assistant head coach at CFMB wasn’t far, but special none the less. Like many athletes, Chris’ affinity for basic strength training started at Miami Senior Highschool, with rusty free weights and bad form. However, by his senior year it blossomed into a legitimate olympic lifting hobby. It was during his first semester at FIU, that Chris recognized fitness as his true passion, when he was able to give a presentation on his major in front of his class, not rehearsed, but on passion alone, a precursor to his future coaching days….”my goal is to push fitness and health to the masses, not just a few people…” Just 2 years later, with a BS in Exercise Physiology, Chris fell into Crossfit almost accidentaly, as an intern, and the rest is history. In 2011, Chris left a lucrative concierge position at the Mondrian South Beach, to pursue coaching full time. He is a true student of the sport, and constantly studies film on the progress of new crosffiters, the coaching/training techniques of more experienced coaches, as well as himself. You can find him at the box confidently teaching a class, banging out a WOD, or after gym hours, “getting under” increasing amounts of weight with nothing but a bucket of chalk, and a rolling camera, and don’t be surprised if he asks to see your snatch, his favorite Crossfit movement. At the round age of 25, Chris plans to fine tune his body and compete himself!

Born and raised in Miami, FL, I was brought up to always be involved in sports or fitness. As a youngster, I was involved in kenpo karate, obtaining my black belt at the age of 12, and still train to this day. Alongside the martial arts, I was actively involved in basketball, football, baseball, and track. Into my high school years, I was a 3 sport athlete, lettering in basketball, football, and track. After high school, I was fortunate enough to continue my basketball career and play for Lasell College, in Newton, MA. After 2 years, I returned and am continuing my efforts to earning my BS in Sports and Recreation Management. During my studies, I began coaching middle school and high school basketball. Being involved with kids and focusing on fitness and well-being, crossfit out-shined all other functional trainings and fitness workouts.
I got introduced to CrossFit after 3 years of coaching basketball, and have not doubted the change ever since. Reebok CrossFit Miami Beach has blessed me with a great opportunity to grow as athlete and a coach. The aspects of CrossFit can be used and implemented to ever and any aspect of life; sports, wellness, and longevity of oneís life.

James Lopez began his athletic journey thru sports such as baseball and basketball at a young age. With more of his focus on baseball, James went on to graduate high school and receive a scholarship to Newberry College in South Carolina. James completed two years there and then brought his talents back to South Florida to finish up his schooling at St. Thomas University.
After James stopped playing baseball at a collegiate level, he found crossfit as his new sport. Right away James was drawn to the competitive and skilled edge that crossfit brings out in its athletes. James has now been crossfitting for almost 2 years. “My level of fitness and drive has never been higher. I encourage everyone to at least try crossfit once. You’ll know right away if this sport is for you”. James preaches how crossfit has helped him working with private clientele. His baseball athletes are all reaping the benefits of this style of training.
